Alpha Sigma Alpha Special O's

​

The women of Alpha Sigma Alpha had a busy April, with three events supporting the Special Olympics. The sisters participated in Polar Plunge, a fundraising event in which they dove into a cold lake, on April 13. A few weekends later they volunteered at a Special Olympics athletic event, hanging out with the athletes and cheering them on. On April 21st they ran the annual Special O's spaghetti dinner. Students, faculty, and community members gathered for a classy dinner of spaghetti and breadsticks. The event also included a silent auction.

Sigma Nu Chili Cook-off

On April 7 the brothers of Sigma Nu hosted their first Chili Cook-off, an event that brought Coe organizations as well as the Cedar Rapids community together for a little bit of competition and a lot of chili, benefiting the Wounded Warrior project. The event also included a silent auction, as well as live music.

Councils choose new philanthropies

This year, each council chose an overall philanthropy to collectively support. 



Panhellenic Council selected Circle of Sisterhood. Circle of Sisterhood is an organization of Greek women who strive to provide educational opportunities and support for women in developing countries, lifting them out of poverty and social oppression. 



Interfraternity Council chose Witty Kitties, an animal shelter specifically for felines, that facilitates adoption and care for cats with special needs.
